Rupert Grint: From Harry Potter To Big Celebrity

Rupert Grint catapulted to world wide fame in 2001 after he appeared in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (the Sorcerer’s Stone in the States) as the redheaded Ron Weasley. Since then he has been an integral part of the wizarding trio alongside his co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson. Rupert is beginning to make the transition from child star to adult film star by starting to take on other projects.

Rupert came into the world on August 24th, 1988, in the town of Harlowe in the south of England. He is the oldest of five Grint children, with a little brother and three little sisters. Before Rupert got the part of playing Ron he had only been in local school productions. He wanted to try for the part of Ron because he was a huge fan of the J. K. Rowling books.
